Head to 725 Bluff City Hwy to visit this gem, where they’ve got very reasonable prices and food the kids will love. Kids under 12 get to choose a hot dog, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, PB&J, or a corn dog with a side and a drink for just $5.99. For those over 12, it’s just a dollar more.
For mom and dad, we recommend the brisket sandwich or the pepper cheesesteak. They’ve got fresh cake most days, and the service is always on point. Don’t skip out on a piece of cornbread with your meal, as Janie’s makes the best. And whatever you do, save room for the red velvet cake.
Cancun Family Mexican
If your family is into Taco Tuesday, then this is the place to come. They’re at 330 Broad St and have great food, fast service, and very family-friendly prices. This is a nice atmosphere for kids, too. The chips and salsa come out fast, so if your kids are anxious to get noshing, this is the place to stop.
They’ve got a wide variety of quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, and tacos as well as less obvious offerings like flat iron steak, chili colorado, and pollo tampico. The kids’ menu includes tacos, quesadillas, nachos, burgers, burritos, cheeseburgers, and Mexican pizza, and there are vegetarian and sandwich choices, too.
Big Guy’s Italiano
If Italian is more your speed, then head close to the Virginia border to 801 Edgemont Ave and try Big Guy’s. They have huge loaded pizzas, friendly staff, and stromboli so big you’ll want to share. The garlic knots with cheese are something you simply cannot afford to miss. They’ve also got pizza rolls the kids will love.
But theres more to Italian than pizza and pizza rolls. You can also get some amazing sandwiches, like the Italiano sub and the meatball sub. There’s a spicy chicken and shrimp penne that is a popular favorite, and the bake ziti and manicotti are also standout favorites.
